The craftsman

down

Simon Haaby, a Compagnons du Devoir-trained craftsman with 15 years of experience, wishes to bring you all his skill and expertise to help you to bring your ideas to life.

With his highly skilled and effective team, he can provide a response to the boldest of requests in interior joinery and cabinetmaking.

The workshop

down

Styligner has a fully equipped 480m² production shop that meets all the latest safety standards.

The workspace is divided into several clearly distinct areas with an installed base of stationary machinery, an assembly area with workbenches and a finishing booth.

Above the workshop, in a 480 m² storage area, logs of different species of timber await their turn to be worked.

The skills

down

Whilst always aiming to meet deadlines, the high-quality work we produce has to fulfil your wishes and blend in harmoniously with the rest of your interior.

From period furniture to contemporary pieces... from the fitting out of offices to a bespoke child's bedroom, we will listen to what you want before adding our comments and talent to the mix.

This is our greatest challenge - to provide a unique response to the project that you entrust to us and one that in the end meets your expectations.

Driftwood

down

This photo shows trunks and branches that have been carried away by torrents and rain-swollen rivers.

After spending various lengths of time in lakes and other bodies of water, this timber, worn, washed out, eroded, barkless, drifts with the current or the wind and finally washes up on beaches where it dries out.

Nature has already done a large part of the cabinetmaker's job - he or she just needs to have an eye for good pieces with the potential to come to life again in lovingly fashioned new items.

Axe-hewn reclaimed lumber

down

In the old days before the Industrial Revolution, with no machinery, and especially electricity, to lighten their load, our ancestors used to shape the timber they used to build their homes entirely by hand, using a squaring or hewing axe.

Today this old timber is much sought after and its use in new buildings has made it a rare resource.

Styligner seeks to bring out and highlight all the charm and authenticity of axe-hewn reclaimed lumber in its work.

Weathered barn siding

down

These old planks that covered the sides of barns were exposed to all weathers, but they are now enjoying a new lease of life in furniture and new timber constructions. Scorched by the sun and battered by the wind and rain, this timber was prematurely aged.

When old farm buildings are demolished, the siding is dismantled, a raw material prized by connoisseurs. Often over 100 years old, these planks are marked by the passage of time, but once they have been wire-brushed, they make a distinctive and beautiful material.

Hand-planed reclaimed lumber

down

In rural areas homes were rudimentary constructions and in days gone by the countryside would be dotted with farmsteads.

Farmers nevertheless liked to have at least one warm and cosy room, generally entirely fitted out with timber, where the family could keep warm during the long winter months. This wood panelling was generally pine, worked and planed by hand and often painted by the different owners over the generations.

Today, this salvaged timber is stripped and lightly wire-brushed.

Its uses are many and varied: from copies of old furniture to outdoor features.

Modern materials

down

We are passionate about this old material, whose patina is a window onto its soul, and yet at the same time we get great pleasure from mixing modern elements such as glass, stainless steel and even concrete with it.

From laminates to synthetic resins, from high gloss varnishes to paints, we offer and work with a vast array of innovative materials.

The success of a project depends on achieving just the right balance.

Optimising living spaces

down

Styligner offers its customers a comprehensive service to improve and optimise their interior spaces, covering advice, the preparation of the final plans, production and installation.

We listen carefully to customers' desires and requirements, then draw up different proposals within the planned budget.

Starting with the materials chosen, an interior fitting out project must be unique, harmonious, functional and finished to the highest quality.

Renovation and conversion

down

In an era where energy is precious and saving it a constant concern, we provide detailed and specific advice on thermal insulation as part of your renovation project.

It is essential to anticipate on the need to save energy when converting or fitting out your home.

Outdoor joinery

down

We can also give a new lease of life to your outdoor living spaces, and this represents a significant part of our business.

The idea is always to design the new features to blend in harmoniously with the existing site.

From driftwood handrails to hen house makeovers to the installation of decking... every project deserves particular attention.

The essential thing in our eyes is always to ensure that the materials used "live" in their new home.

The harmony of shapes

down

The tool mastered by a dexterous hand and guided by an inspired mind: this sums up the values that we defend and hope to pass on to future generations, so that every item produced conveys the natural beauty of the materials and the craftsman's love of his work.

Skill and inspiration

down

Furniture-making is the branch where the cabinetmaker really comes into his own and the production of the perfect piece is the result of the alchemy between the customer's requirements and the craftsman's imagination.

We elegantly integrate into our furniture the latest technological innovations in items just such drawer runners and door slides or lighting.

From coffee tables to bookcases, from banisters to fitted dressing rooms, Styligner's philosophy is always the same: to transform the functional object into a beautiful and timeless piece of work.

Nature reasserts itself

down

Concerned to reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the environment, at Styligner we strive to use low-toxicity finishing products whenever we can.

We also aim to select materials that will enable us to create environmentally-friendly furniture with the lines of tomorrow.

Our greatest joy being to enhance already sublime materials.

Assembling axe-hewn reclaimed lumber and recycling driftwood, using our skills and talent to get the best out of it are part of Styligner's convictions for the future.
